The Obama campaign has released what appears to be its first official campaign video. It stars Sarah Jessica Parker and calls Obama “that guy.” You know: “that guy” who “created” four million “jobs” and “ended” all the wars and was so totally and completely awesome for the last four years that 90% of his 2008 small time donors have yet to contribute in any meaningful way to the Obama campaign, except with the sheer power of their hopes and dreams.
At any rate, he’s awesome and if Carrie Bradshaw tells you to do it, you totally should.
The only problem is obvious: Sarah Jessic Parker’s only political experience stems directly from a Season 3 episode of Sex and the City entitled “Politically Erect,” where she dates Roger Sterling, except he’s not Roger Sterling, he’s a dude running for comptroller in NYC who wants her to pee on him during sex. Although she did utter the memorable line, “I was adept at fashion; he was adept at politics. And really, what’s the difference? They’re both about recycling shop-worn ideas and making them seem fresh and inspiring.”
Well, the good news is it should definitely lock up the as-yet-untapped demographic of decadent, ultra-materialistic, sexually-dissolute urban spinsters pushing 50, and those with a sick grandma fetish.
